“The Kay wines typically need air, and often lots of it, but this presents immediately. That’s no slight, as it’s still laden with mineral, site-derived characters. There’s a little vanillin sweetness of oak on the nose, along with clove, anise, pepper, bay laurel and cacao nibs. Fruit pitches red, travelling down a savoury line, tannins gripping early and carrying long, eschewing a sweet middle. It’s accessible but still needs a little time.” – James Halliday 91 Points
