2001 kicked off with a wet spring, which lasted until mid-July, and was followed by a hot, dry summer in the Rhône Valley. A cool September slowed grape ripening and pushed back the harvest. These conditions resulted in lower yields, particularly on the red grape varieties, due to coulure and the small size of the grape berries. However, they produced concentrated wines with vibrant natural acidity and remarkable balance.
