Errazuriz Las Pizarras
Vina Errazuriz’s philosophy is best expressed by founder Don Maximiano who said, “From the best land, the best wine”. The winery, now led by Chilean wine entrepreneur Eduardo Chadwick, was founded back in 1870 as a visionary project to be the first to plant French grape varieties in Aconcagua Valley.
The vineyard from which the two ‘Las Pizarras’ wines are produced lies in the Aconcagua coastal area, where the microclimate and well-drained soils with high levels of slate stone produce wines of exceptional complexity, depth, minerality and natural acidity.
Vina Errazuriz holds the concept of ‘terroir’ above all, while striving to produce the finest wines by using the most natural techniques. Through years of understanding and mapping the vineyard, Las Pizarras come from specific and unique plots equivalent to the Grand Crus of Burgundy.
The 2019 vintage is all about low and gentle ripeness, resulting in stunning healthy grapes that won 98 Points from James Suckling. The Pinot Noir is all about purity with a core of berries and a hint of pistachio, coupled with aromas of tea, truffle and rose hips.
The exceedingly complex Chardonnay is “clearly the best in Chile”. Lavender, sliced green apples, white peaches, flint, salt and sea wood with energic acidity and an endless finish – sounds like a dream to us!
