Clos Apalta 2018

Chile’s Clos Apalta is one of the world’s greatest red wines. Time and time again, this organic and biodynamic winery has scored sky-high points, even with two back-to-back 100-point vintages recently!
Surrounded by a horseshoe of the Coastal Mountains, the grapes benefit by receiving two full hours of less sunlight. This effect slows down the grapes’ ripening process, producing wines with elegance, good acidity, and freshness. It amazes many that a high alcohol wine does not taste heavy or overtly alcoholic!
Clos Apalta stands out from other highly regarded reds due to the Carmenere-dominant blend, which offers an exalted aromatic profile that is a cut above the rest. Now, the winery is back with the release of its 2018 vintage. Once again, they have delivered a wine with a gorgeous aromatic profile:
“So aromatic and fresh with dried flowers, sweet tobacco and hints of straw. Red fruit, cloves and green peppercorns. Fine, silky and beautiful. Hints of minerals and granite to the dark fruit.” Sounds irresistibly delicious, yes?
Second wine Le Petit Clos Apalta 2018 deserves a special mention too, scoring a whopping 94 points by James Suckling!
