Cheval des Andes 2018
Set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, Argentina’s Grand Cru was born from the union of two cultures. Cheval des Andes combines generations of heritage, savoir-faire and values from Bordeaux’s Chateau Cheval Blanc with the crown jewel vineyards of Argentina’s Terrazas de Los Andes, to create a unique fine wine comparable to Bordeaux’s Grand Crus.
“This will be a journey to the roots of Bordeaux.”
– Pierre Lurton, President, Chateau Cheval Blanc & Cheval des Andes
As with many great adventures, Cheval des Andes started from a man’s passion and conviction. The stunning vineyard of ungrafted Malbec vines in Las Compuertas had captivated Pierre’s heart, where he believed an iconic Bordeaux-style Malbec would be born.
The newly released 2018 vintage impresses with its depth and richness – very long and structured, yet controlled and in balance. A great wine indeed, with blueberry and floral aromas accompanied by hints of tar and lavender.
