Antinori Tignanello

With over six centuries of tradition in the art of winemaking, it is no surprise that the Antinori family remains as revolutionary pioneers who created a wine that led the way for Italy’s “Super Tuscan” movement to take the world by storm.

Tignanello is widely considered as Chianti’s first Super Tuscan wine, originating from the Antinori family’s hillside vineyard in the renowned Italian winemaking region. While second in the timeline to its Bolgheri rival Sassicia, Tignanello’s conception arose from several inaugural innovations – the first contemporary wine of Chianti to contain untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet), the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques (small barrels), and one of the first red wines in Chianti to omit the usage of white grapes.

Thus was the birth of the Super Tuscan movement. Today, Tignanello remains highly sought-after for its velvety, warm and inviting taste accompanied by complex floral and berry notes. In a time when the world is emerging from a period of darkness, this wine hits the market with an “optimism that springs bright with such clarity and detail from within this blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc”.
