Antinori Solaia 2018
Tradition, passion and intuition have been the three driving principles which have led the Antinori name to become a leader in Italian wine. With over six centuries of tradition in the art of winemaking, the Antinori family’s passion has only grown even more – a force that drives them to explore the vast potential of their vineyards and reconcile new discoveries that represent the identity of the Antinori family.
This is where intuition comes in, leading to the creation of Solaia. The wine was first created as an experiment in 1978 when the vineyards for Tignanello – Solaia’s sister wine – produced an excess of Cabernet grapes. Originally a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Machesi Antinori has since added Sangiovese into the mix to give it true Tuscan character.
Solaia is an opulent and complex wine that is delicious on all fronts. The 2018 vintage, whose growth cycle progressed normally, is a classic expression of Solaia with great character and identity. Very aromatic with notes of currants, fresh herbs, white pepper and cherry blossoms; accompanied by a velvety texture and ultra-fine tannins.
Our intuition tells us that you will not regret trying this wine!
